Happy Halloween!

I can't believe that today is the last day of October. Where did the time go? I have one more project for Halloween that I wanted to share and enter in a few challenges. I created this project in about 30 minutes and she was able to wear it today for school. I had never done fabric with the Ultra Heat N Bond and wanted to give it a try. It really went together very quickly. I set my cricut at Pressure - 4, Speed - 2, Blade - 6. I put my fabric right side up on the (the Ultra Heat N Bond was touching the mat) and I taped it to the mat with masking tape just to make sure it didn't move. You can have the fabric touching the mat instead; just make sure you flip your design before cutting. I also cut twice as I don't have a deep blade and wanted to make sure it went all the way through. The fabric used was a t-shirt (jersey) material and cut very clean.

DCWV October Sketch Challenge

I'm so glad to be working on some layouts. The challenge for October at DCWV Diary helped me get this one completed:)  I chose the Black Currant stack for this and would say it is a close second to my all time favorite Citrus. The papers are so pretty and perfect for my page.

Pumpkin Layout

I actually didn't use the cricut on this layout...gasp. I was focusing more on the pictures and how to get all the cute sayings that my daughter said last year (2010) onto the layout and it just turned out without it. My kids love to carve pumpkins and my youngest really likes the insides. I think I take as many pictures of carving pumpkins as I do Christmas. I used Basic Grey for pattern paper and fibers. Solid paper is Bazzill. The pumpkins are PK Faceless Fall Fun with white Signo pen. The journaling was printed on the computer and cut by hand with orange, green, black and purple ink on edges.

DCWV Halloween Treat Bags

I had so much fun making these 2 cute bags and really they were done in a blink of an eye! I only used 2 sheets of paper from the new DCWV Ghosts and Goblins stack. The remnants from cutting the bag were used to make the filler.  There was no waste at all, which was great for the ever growing scrap pile:) I pulled my crimper out to give the filler some texture and called it done.

I glued a bottle on each side of the bag. I would have liked the skull a little higher up on the bag, but I think it still came out ok. DCWV paper is so nice to work with. It cuts great with the cricut and is a nice weight for those 3D crafts.

Halloween is coming soon!

Did you know that October 30, 2011 is National Candy Corn Day! Really, it is...for the people that know about it. Where do they come up with this stuff. I guess any reason is a reason to celebrate. Candy corn has some interesting facts and if interested you can go here to read about it:) In honor of candy corn, which I do like, I decided to create a card. May as well get on the bandwagon...heehee.

I wanted to give the Mini Monsters card feature another try and I'm glad I did. In the past, when I tried a couple card base shapes, the top layer would bend in the wrong spot leaving a crease. I think you just have to play with sizes and shapes to make sure you have a nice looking front when open or closed.

Pumpkins and More Pumpkins

I had pulled out the pumpkin decorations and some of them looked a little sad. I decided to give them another chance this year by changing them. I saw this post here and it gave me an idea. When we went pumpkin picking I got some fun shaped pumpkins. There was a white one that really stood out as different to me. So, that is how I chose to change the fake pumpkins to sit on my buffet in the dining room with my real pumpkin.

I went to Michael's and got some acrylic paint and also some glitter paint. I also got a couple floral sprays. I took the metal leaf off of the smaller one and the stem was already off of the bigger pumpkin. It took little time to dry.

I got some candlesticks out that I wasn't using and just set the pumpkins on top of them.

Give it a try! You never know what you can make new again:)

Hello Kitty Halloween

I am still working on Halloween cards and this one today will be for my sweet 11 year old. She loves Hello Kitty and thinks she is super cute. I agree:) Today I am entering this card in Bitten By The Bug 2 and Throwback Thursday. They both required a Halloween theme. BBTB2 asked for something cute and Hello Kitty. Emma asked for the use of the card feature on a cartridge. I came up with this cutie. Hope you like her:)

Her hat is some mulberry paper that has some streaks of gold. I hadn't use mulberry in a really long time. It is a fun paper to play with.

The card feature is from Celebrations and the stars that are on the inside of the card are from the cut out.

Merry Christmas Penguins

I'm am so excited that I get to play with my PK Critter Stamps. I had been wanting them for awhile and couldn't decide what size and I finally just picked. I also got a monster set and just love the look they give to the cuts.

I am entering this card in the Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #62. I flipped the sketch around as I didn't realize how big this guy's head would be and I really wanted to use the penguin paper:) I put brown stickles on top of clear skittles to get the glittery dots. I also have a new paperstack (6 x 6) from Jillybean that has really cute Christmas/Holiday papers. I really need to get on the ball with Christmas cards. This definitely is a start.

This was the first penguin I cut and realized that he was way to big for my stamps. I was so excited to play with my stamps that I didn't check the sizes on the cheatsheet that I have. Oh well, got another card done:)

Halloween Layouts

Well, I am finally get done some layouts from last year. I have been scrapping all my life in one form or another. I really started scrapbooking when my oldest (16) was a baby. I didn't care for the baby books that were out way back when and wanted to do something different and came across Creative Memories. Boy, have things changed since then.

Today, I am entering the challenge at Paper Playtime. The challenge was to use black, orange and purple on a project. I used a few different cartridges to get this layout done.

This layout was inspired from another blogger, Bling Queen. I really like the background papers. The orange paper with the embossed bats are really fun:)

Frogs

Hi Everyone! Don't forget there is still time to get in on the drawing for the hop. Go to here or here and enter. Winner will be announced October 17th.

Okay, so I have a confession to make. I was on a Halloween role and when I went to check the challenge for BBTB2 I just saw frog...LOL. It actually said CAC frog, which I do have. However, I had Mini Monsters on the brain.  After I did the Mini Monsters frog, I went back and did a card for Create A Critter frog. I love the challenges because I am using cuts that I have never done and, of course, it helps build the card stash. So, today I have 2 cards:)

For the challenge I made the Create A Critter frog with the Prince Charming sentiment. I think this would be cute for Valentine's Day or an anniversary.

For the 2nd card, I made a very warty frog, which I do think he is unfroggetable. I do like how I was able to manipulate Robyn's stamp (My Pink Stamper) so that it has a curve instead of straight away. Just a different way to use it:)

He is still cute, bumps and all!

Monogram Bookmarks

Emma, at My Creative Time, is having a Throwback Thursday Challenge to use a font cartridge. There are some great images on these cartridges. I decided to look at features that I haven't checked out before. I came across this one from All Mixed Up. This was one of the very first cartridges I bought and still like it today. There is a feature for tags that have the letter cut out of them. I thought these would make great bookmarks.

I made 3 different ones and the nice thing was that I used the letter that cut out of one side and put it on the back of the other. I also have 3 layers, which keeps them nice and sturdy. I used glossy accents for dimension on one side of each bookmark.

The challenge ends tomorrow and I barely made it. So glad I did:)

An Apple A Day!

There is still time to get in on the drawing for the hop. Go to here or here and enter. Winner will be announced October 17th.

I am entering this card in the M.A.G.S.Challenge #47 is Create A Critter page 25. This page has the apple and owl. I chose the apple because I hadn't cut this cutie yet. This has to be one of my favorite cartridges. The layers go together so nicely. It is really simple to use. I hid the cut out of the face with my gypsy so I could use my PK Stamp. I tried glossy accent over the eye - just the black part. I like the look of the eye being bright:)

Link Up for Pink

Thank you all for visiting this weekend and welcome to my new followers. It was really fun to do a hop and I hope to do another one soon. Everyone is so creative and it is so much fun to share together:)

There is still time to get in on the drawing for the hop. Go to here or here and enter. Winner will be announced October 17th.

This month, as I'm sure everyone knows, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is close to home for me as my Mom had a total mastectomy back in 1985. My Mom used to work for an OB/GYN office and they had gotten a new mammogram machine. All the women in the office were having mammograms so that the employees could understand how to work the new machines. Our family was very fortunate that this event happened as she had no symptoms. My Mom had a bilateral mastectomy soon after. She just turned 81 at the end of September and is cancer free. So, get checked regularly and do self examinations too!

Celeste, Gaby and Yolie (fellow bloggers) are having a Link Up for Pink Party. I am including this card in the party. There is still time if you want to add to the party too.

Some of us are celebrating the hop by giving away Blog Candy so make sure you check out all the great creations.

Okay, on with the project today. Subway art is very popular right now and I thought it might be fun to create my own. Michael's was having a sale on canvas and I purchased these.

It's kind of hard to tell, but I painted the canvas with an acrylic ecru first. (Paint is still a little wet in this pic)

I then layed out design on my gypsy and cut. Love my gypsy!

I painted glitter paint over the finished project. This was a lot of fun to make and there are many possibilities for future subway art in my mind:)

Here's the blog candy again that you could win.

Rules to be in the drawing are:
1. Follower of my blog.
2. Leave a comment on blog hop post for your chance to win.

Make sure to leave email so I can contact if you are the winner:) Winner will be announced on Monday, October 17th.

"So What's New" Blog Hop Is Here!

Welcome to our 2 day So What's New Blog Hop!!! I'm so excited to be participating in my first blog hop! If your hopping over from Susan at Croatian Crafter, then your in the right place. If not, you'll want to hop back to Leah at My Craft and Chat Cafe  and start at the beginning so you can see all the goodies the newbie bloggers have made. Many of us have blog candy to share so you definitely don't want to miss the chance to win.  We are displaying our work to help you get to know us better. We decided that anything goes so I decided to show my creativity by making some home decor for Halloween. I wanted a treat jar for my counter in the kitchen so I decided to make this little cutie.

Supplies to get started.
Painted black and sprayed with polyurethane to give shine and protection.

White vinyl was used to create poison and bats.

Added silver glitter in the lid.
This was so easy and quick to make that I'm thinking I should rush back to Michael's and get some more glass jars. They had pink, blue, yellow, and orange for 2.99. What a bargain! I had no idea they came in colors. I was looking for clear. I'm so happy I found my pukey green bowl:). It worked perfect for my design.

Recipe:

6" glass bowl
4" terra cotta pot
4" saucer
Ribbon
wooden ball
Poison - 1.82" Happy Hauntings
Bats - 1.24" 1.35", 1.50" Happy Hauntings
E6000 glue
polyurethane spray
silver glitter
white vinyl
sponge brush
black acrylic paint

Here is my blog candy that you have a chance to win!!!
