Exploring Cricut Project for Thursday

Happy Thursday! It is my turn at Exploring Cricut today. I decided to make a sympathy card for one of the women in my bible study. Her son was on a school trip in Thailand and was in a tragic accident. Any prayers for she and her family would be appreciated during this difficult time.

Ok, on to my project. I used Versamark and UTEE (ultra thick embossing powder) to embellish the butterfly.

The blackout feature was used for the butterfly and I heated UTEE on it to give it some texture. The UTEE I used was a blue iridescent that really gave a different color to the paper. On the top layer I used clear embossing powder with Versamark and heated it. This gave both pieces a nice shine.

The sentiment was then embossed with black powder and Versamark. I then used Versamark over the entire sentiment with clear embossing powder. I hadn't done this in awhile and was concerned the black would reheat, but it came out just fine.

When attaching the top layer of the butterfly I only glued the middle section so that the wings would pop up and the underneath would have a nice shadow as well as visibility of the blackout section.

Exploring Cricut - Summer Fun Challenge

Well, summer is definitely here and to celebrate at Exploring Cricut the challenge this week is "Summer Fun". Make a card, layout or papercraft using at least 3 Cricut cuts, 2 pattern papers and 1 embellishment of summer fun activity, vacation, etc.

I chose to make a card from Pack Your Bags.  I have to say I would like to be this chick today at the pool or beach because it is hot and muggy here. Doesn't she look relaxed:) This was a fun card for me to make because I love summer . Near the water is even better. Just made me smile!

I decided to hide the sun face cuts with my Gypsy and used a Peachy Stamp instead. I popped up the sun and added Stickles to the sand and waves. I also want to mention that the stamp "wishing you" was curved on the block before stamping. I really like the flexibility of K.Andrew Stamps.
