Exploring Cricut - Brrr!

Hello! Time for me to share at Exploring Cricut! I came across this fun idea for a window card from the tutorials at Split Coast Stampers and in keeping with our theme this week decided to create a fun look through the window at this snowman from Joys of the Season.

Now, this card doesn't open as one would expect. In fact, it doesn't open at all. The front of the card is attached to the inside of the card and so when leaving a note you will write on the back, just like a post card.

Here is the window open.

I started by creating with the red piece (card base) which is 8 1/2" x 5" and then folding in half.  I then added a white piece of cardstock to the inside of the card to place my image.

The polka dot frame is 4" x 5 1/4". The brown frame was added to the top of the polka dots measuring 3 1/2" x 4 1/2".

Blind is 2 3/8" x 4 7/8" score first at 3/8″, 3/4″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/4″, 3″, 3 3/4″, and 4 1/2″.  Then move the paper over to an 1/8" and score at 1 1/4″, 2″, 2 3/4″, 3 1/2″, and 4 1/4″. After this is done you will then accordion fold you paper and then, using the Crop A Dile, Punch a hole in each end of your window shade sides (keeping it folded as you do so).

The top of the window shade will be adhered to the inside of the card. Once you have done this you can add Score Tape to the sides and attach to the inside of the card.

Make sure when you are adding your ribbon that both ends of the ribbon end at the top of your window.

Valance measures at 3/4" x 3 1/8" and I used pop dots to adhere this to the window frame. To pull the window shade up and down you will pull both ends of the ribbon at the same time away form your card.

This really was quite simple and I hope I haven't confused you. Sorry I didn't take as many step by step pics.; I got focused on the process and forgot. However, the link above has wonderful step by step pictures to look at if you need some added information.

This is a good common sense article. Very helpful to one who is just finding the resouces about this part. It will certainly help educate me.
