Exploring Cricut and More-Mother's Day Challenge

Hello! So glad you came to visit. Exploring Cricut and More has a new challenge this week. You are to create a card, layout or project for Mother's Day. You must include in your project a ribbon. So, any color, any machine:)

I chose to create a Mother's Day card using my Cricut Expression. I decided to look at some of my older cartridges and see what I could come up with. I really like these tags from All Mixed Up. I have used them for different projects, but never on a card. 

I think this is really sweet with the white little flowers I added on top. Yellow Stickles was added to the center of the white flowers. I added some Stickles to the tag flower underneath the white. The background paper already came in a patchwork like design.

Exploring Cricut - Science Game

Hello! Today is my turn to share at Exploring Cricut and I have a fun school project you might enjoy. My youngest daughter asked to use the Cricut to create a board game for her science project.  This was a great project for the budget because we  had everything but extra dice, which we found at the $1 store. Gotta love that:)

My daughter chose to base her game loosely on the "Sorry" game. We started with a poster board and cut it down to a 20"x 20" square with the smaller squares measuring at 2 1/2". To make it more interesting, while learning, she added things like "draw again, lose a turn, etc.

One of the requirements for the project was to create 25 questions based on the subject matter, which was atoms and elements. She set to work choosing colors and shapes that would fit her theme. She used the gypsy to search for items. This can easily been done in CCR too. While I love my gypsy I do think searching for shapes is nice in CCR because it is a larger screen. You can hold the top button on the gypsy to enlarge the shape before selecting too.

The entire board was Mod Podged for a protectant. The "finish" piece was created by welding a circle and rectangle together in the Gypsy. 

The game pieces were created with a button as the base, a wooden ball and Stickles. The ball was attached to the button with E6000 glue.

Exploring Cricut - Your Choice Challenge

Hello! The week flew by and it's time for another challenge at Exploring Cricut. The challenge this time is a "Cricut Choice." You can create a card, layout or project using 1 pattern paper, 2 Cricut cuts and 3 colors.

I am still working on layouts and I decided to create a 2 page layout of my husband running in the KC Zoo Run for the Penguins this year. Every year the run is dedicated to raise funds for a particular animal. There are so many fun penguins on cartridges it was hard to decide. I ended up with these 3 little cuties.

The arrow I will use for journaling.

I hid the faces on my Gypsy and used PK Critter Faces. I added white to the eyes, blush to the cheeks and yellow to the beaks. The little one is popped up with a pop dot. The paper underneath them was torn by hand.

Exploring Cricut - Back To School Challenge

Hello! Did you all have a nice weekend? It was super hot here and boy there must be a lot of pollen in the air!! Exploring Cricut has a new challenge today to start your week out. Using your Cricut create a card, layout or project with the theme "back to school" using some of the primary and a ribbon.

I chose to create a page for my youngest when she was entering 6th grade. It was so exciting for her as she was entering middle school and, of course, her own locker. She had a great time with her sister and cousin decorating her locker and goofing around. Of course, now, as an 8th grader it is all old hat:)

I enjoyed creating this layout looking for different cartridges to show the theme of my pages. I hadn't used my glitter pens in awhile and they were perfect for the notebook paper and the pennant with her school initial on it. I changed the blade out and put the pen in using speed of 3 and pressure of 3. Remember not to unload the mat so that you can cut the image out after using the pen.

I have been cutting a lot of titles out lately and am finding that welding them together is so much easier to glue down, especially when they are skinnier letters. "Middle School" was taken from Locker talk and I left them separate for a different look. The lettering on the pennant was done using the glitter pens again. I inked the edges of the notebook paper, pennant and journalling paper. I cut the journalling paper to look like a ribbon.

Monogram Bookmarks

Emma, at My Creative Time, is having a Throwback Thursday Challenge to use a font cartridge. There are some great images on these cartridges. I decided to look at features that I haven't checked out before. I came across this one from All Mixed Up. This was one of the very first cartridges I bought and still like it today. There is a feature for tags that have the letter cut out of them. I thought these would make great bookmarks.

I made 3 different ones and the nice thing was that I used the letter that cut out of one side and put it on the back of the other. I also have 3 layers, which keeps them nice and sturdy. I used glossy accents for dimension on one side of each bookmark.

The challenge ends tomorrow and I barely made it. So glad I did:)
