Exploring Cricut - Science Game

Hello! Today is my turn to share at Exploring Cricut and I have a fun school project you might enjoy. My youngest daughter asked to use the Cricut to create a board game for her science project.  This was a great project for the budget because we  had everything but extra dice, which we found at the $1 store. Gotta love that:)

My daughter chose to base her game loosely on the "Sorry" game. We started with a poster board and cut it down to a 20"x 20" square with the smaller squares measuring at 2 1/2". To make it more interesting, while learning, she added things like "draw again, lose a turn, etc.

One of the requirements for the project was to create 25 questions based on the subject matter, which was atoms and elements. She set to work choosing colors and shapes that would fit her theme. She used the gypsy to search for items. This can easily been done in CCR too. While I love my gypsy I do think searching for shapes is nice in CCR because it is a larger screen. You can hold the top button on the gypsy to enlarge the shape before selecting too.

The entire board was Mod Podged for a protectant. The "finish" piece was created by welding a circle and rectangle together in the Gypsy.

The game pieces were created with a button as the base, a wooden ball and Stickles. The ball was attached to the button with E6000 glue.

Foam core board cut down to 20 x 20

Exploring Cricut-Monster Jam

Hello! It's my turn to share at Exploring Cricut and I created with quite a few Cricut cartridges this time. We went to the Monster Jam Truck show and took quite a few pics. I narrowed it down to these and the rest will go in a clear sleeve fitting 12 pics.

I really struggled with creating this layout because I don't have any boy cartridges. However, in trying to think outside of the box I think this layout came through without them. I improvised on the images and hope you like what you see. The journaling spot on the second page was actually going to be for tickets, which I can't find. I'm hoping they turn up, but if not I will continue the rest of the journaling on what is already attached.

The dots were created by using Liquid Pearls to add a "rivet" look. I just realized that Ribbons and Rosettes would have been good to use too because the font on there already has the holes if you don't want to use the Liquid Pearls.

Recipe:
12 x 12 2 page layout
Papers - DCWV  and scraps
Title - Birthday Bash 1.23, shadow 1.31"
Green, Purple Grave Digger Car - Paper Dolls for Everyday 3.25"
Skeleton Face - Indie Art 1"
Superman Truck - Paper Dolls for Everyday 3.45"
Red Cape on Truck - Paper Doll Dress Up 5.15"
Shield - Create A Critter 1.46"
"S" - Birthday Bash 1"
Wheels on Truck - From My Kitchen 8.69", 12.07"
Flag - Paper Dolls for Everyday 7.62"

A Pink Get Well

Hi! Glad you came for a visit. I'm happy to be able to share a card with you today. I needed some get well cards and decided to do a CAS. I love how the pink pops with the black and white.

I used Liquid Pearls for the white dots on the band aid and stickled the hearts in the sentiment. My stamp actually had the words stacked on stop of one another and I wanted them to go across the image. I just snipped the words apart and then laid them on my block. Now, I can use the sentiment both ways:) I rounded the outside corners of the card and it was finished.

Recipe:
A2 card base

Stickles, Liquid Pearls, brad

Exploring Cricut Daily Project - Lover's Lane

Good Morning Everyone! I'm so glad you stopped by as it is my turn to share with you a project for Exploring Cricut. I have a Valentine's layout for you and it was so much fun to do. I used quite a few carts to accomplish this one and a lot of stickles:) The name was chosen because my husband's hometown has a street called Lover's Lane and I have always thought it was a very pretty road to travel; perfect for a Valentine page.

Once I have decided on a theme I like to use my gypsy to map out the cuts so I can see how big everything needs to be. From that point, I will either make a tab for each item to cut or group by color. For this particular layout I chose to have a tab for each cut instead of color. I wanted to make sure that the cuts stayed together since there were so many pieces per item.

As you can see, I changed my final layout once I cut them out because I didn't like that the road was hidden. The border was welded together to fit the length of the 12 x 12 pages.

I really like the letters from Storybook. I haven't used this cut very often and it was helpful for me to have the booklet out so that I could make sure and get the right accent frame to go with each letter.

I used the white Signo pen on the wheels and then I added Glossy Accents to it as well as to her shoes, lights and Stickles on basket.

Glossy Accents was added to the cat's heart, the cat and dogs' black eyes and the dog's collar.

Halloween Tea Lights

Tomorrow is the beginning of the So What's New Blog Hop and I can't wait to participate. It is my first hop and think it will be so much fun! I will be giving Blog Candy away too. Yippee!!

Today, I'm recycling to make a fun craft. I found this idea here and decided to give it a try. The possibilities are endless with this and great for kids to help. If I still was a Girl Scout Leader this would have definitely been on the must do list. My younger daughter helped paint and had a blast.

Picture at night so you can see the illumination.

I decided that I didn't want just faces because my cricut would have felt left out. So, on a couple we chose some images and used the negative to paint the image on. We painted the base colors first and waited for it to dry. I would recommend waiting a fair amount on the drying just so the base doesn't peel off when adding another layer.

Finally, shellac the heck out of it to protect it from weather and make it shiny. These are great indoors or outdoors. I tried the battery operated tea light and found it didn't seem to illuminate as well as the real tea light.

Recipe:
Acrylic Paint
Glass jars of any size (I used recycled pasta jars)
Painter's Tape
Polyurethane Spray
Sponge paint brush
Tealight

Thanks for stopping by:)

Rock On!

Hi All! This was so much fun to make. I saw on Bitten By The Bug 2 a challenge for wings, heart, or drips. The examples use Rock Princess, however, this isn't a cart I have. I decided to see what I could come up with. I struggled at first to figure out what direction I wanted to take. I am always surprised when creating how you can start in one direction and it goes completely in another. I am really happy with how this turned out. I hope you like it too. It definitely had me thinking outside the box:)
I welded wings, large heart and drips together on gypsy. I doubled the cut out wings to give more dimension. I also cut out a section of the wings so that they would be tucked a little under the heart.

I used pop dots to give height to the banner and the large heart.
Recipe:
A2 size - white (sorry can't remember which brand) with slight glitter
Pattern Papers - DCWV Black Currant
Heart - height 1.60" on gypsy, George and Basic Shapes
Solid Wings - height 1.60" on gypsy, Indie Art
Cut Out Wings - height 1.79" on gypsy, Indie Art
Drips - height 0.69", 0.73", 0.82" on gypsy, George and Basic Shapes
Small heart - height .76 on gypsy, George and Basic Shapes
Banner - height 1.16" on gypsy, Happy Hauntings
Font - height 0.84" on gypsy, Blackletter

Thanks for looking:)
